D60 rear axle vent

D60 rear axle vent
Where can I buy the brass axle vent fitting? I went to napa and they looked at me like I was stupid. Can I just use a standard 3/8 thread x 5/16 barb brass fitting? or does it need a longer shoulder to fit through the brake coupler?

A barb fitting would be the same thing, except i really dont think the threads will be long enough to go through the brake line fitting. The threads on the vent are pretty darn long.
I had to move that brake line out of the way to put my trac bars on the axle. All i did was just take the vent out, and just let the line hang up out of the way. Then i put the vent back in but the threads were so long that it actually hit the axle shafts, so i just use a few washers to space it out, then put some vacuum hose on it and ran it up above the gas tank to avoid any dirt or anything getting in it.
Now....thats kind of half assed, and i wouldnt recomend doing it for a street driven truck, but mine is just a mud bogger, and just pushing the clutch is usually enough to stop the truck so i dont need brakes so much....
If i were you i'd go looking around junk yards for one...

Leave it to ford to squeeze $.07 out of someone!
Im going to check with my local dealer on Wednesday. If they dont have it in stock Ive saw that JBG has them also and I need to make a purchase with them anyway.
