4+ batteries?

Hey guys...just had an idea about some batteries. I've been having problems with my batteries lately, they're just crap, but anyways thats another issue in itself. So I had a couple extra batteries lying around, and I hooked them all up together and it made my starter zing. Would it be a bad idea to use more than 2 batteries on a consistent basis or would that hurt anything?

did you hook it up as a 24 volt system, or as a 12 volt system? 4 batteries with all the positive terminals hooked together will not cause any harm. but if you hook positive to negative for 24 volts, it can mess up you electrical system.

it will not hurt anything if done right. my 94 e350 has 4 batteries because of the enourmous electrical load that it has. if i tried to runit with only 2 batteries the alternator would go quick. the downside to owning an old ambo.
