I'm the safety director for a company with a fleet of 47, I also have a CDL, if I don't know it I can probably find it out for you. I think a big rig forum is a great idea!
basically, I've got 1 cdl (class b straight truck) driver. We distribute hardwood flooring. we deliver all of our own goods, we arnt for hire.
I keep getting faxes from (i think) bogus companies offering to do the drug/alcohol testing...
as far as I can tell, I think 10% of the cdl drivers have to be tested for alcohol, and 50% for drugs each year.... How does that work if I only have 1 guy? am I required to test him?
As far as alcohol and drug testing goes, I think it's a state by state thing. I'd contact your local DOT office. I'm SURE that they will give you more than enough info on it.
