Why not just look at the federal DOT site?

I think he has a valid point and a great idea here.

IS THERE a BIG RIG forum here? If not it can be suggested. FORD does build semi-trucks... We also have a lot of CDL drivers here.

Duster? SOMEHOW I just knew you were a "Truckin' Bozo"....

(Or would that be "Truckin' Hobo"?)

Seriously though - where the heck is the SEMI forum?

I'm the safety director for a company with a fleet of 47, I also have a CDL, if I don't know it I can probably find it out for you. I think a big rig forum is a great idea!

Fleet of 47? Are you at NAS?

I think it might be a good idea to have an FTE forum for heavy duty trucks. Also, a link on that forum to DOT sites would be benificial too.

You can always download and browse the FMVSS code, Title 49. about 700 pages, that contains a lot related to truck specs and such.

I agree as well, a heavy duty or semi forum would be a great addition.

basically, I've got 1 cdl (class b straight truck) driver. We distribute hardwood flooring. we deliver all of our own goods, we arnt for hire.

I keep getting faxes from (i think) bogus companies offering to do the drug/alcohol testing...

as far as I can tell, I think 10% of the cdl drivers have to be tested for alcohol, and 50% for drugs each year.... How does that work if I only have 1 guy? am I required to test him?

I'm a KY CDL class B w/air brakes.

As far as alcohol and drug testing goes, I think it's a state by state thing. I'd contact your local DOT office. I'm SURE that they will give you more than enough info on it.

Here's some links Jake:

www.dmv.org/il-illinois/cdl-faqs.php

www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/cdl/home.html

I didn't see drug testing mentioned anywhere though.
