Funny, didn't you just say in another thread yours is running and you only have ONE engine. You may have only ONE truck engine, but you must admit, you have THREE vehicles. So, you DO have spares just like some of us!!
Nonsense. I've got ONE pick up truck. (It's a gasser, but she goes...) One pizza rig...(currently very ill, hoping to work on her this weekend.) and then one decent looking, reliable car!
I may not have a place to live, but I've got three cars to drive there!
I was just harrasing you Terry. I only drove an escort once in my life.
Now the ranger I had...16 years of driving. It stranded me 3 times. All 3 times the same darn thing. The stupid A4LD frying/breaking/loud BANG!. The last time I modified a C5 and made it fit.
No...the C5 came in the early Bronco IIs. Well one year anyway. It was behind a smaller engine too. Physically...it bolted to the later engine and was actually shorter (in length) than the A4LD. It is a common swap for anyone can rebuild an auto themselves and who can do fabriction work.
Yes...there is a lot of modifying to get it all to work right and fit.
I have the C-5 in my 94 X. It had a M5OD that went south after 135,000. Really not much fab work at all. A bit to move the cross member. Adapt the tranny lines. The early shifter will work but the tunnel covers are different. Just trim the exsisting cover and intall the smaller cover with correct shifter on top. A bit of wiring for neutral saftey switch and back up lights. A bit of driveshaft work. MPG suffers though. No overdrive. I have 33's and 3.73 gears and turn 3500 RPMS at 75 MPH. Getting around 12 mpg at that speed. I can slow down to 55 and get 15 mpg. I have a T & M Doubler in mine so I had a little fab work done to the gas tank skid plate so it all fits. If I had used a Stubler I would not had to have the gas tank skid plate trimmed and might not have needed to lenthen/ shorten the drive shafts.
Back on topic. I at one time wanted an Escort GT. So what can we do to that little engine? Does Ford or others make HP parts for it?
