warn manual hubs

i was wondering if anyone could help me. i was going to purchase a set of warn hubs for my 94 explorer sport but im not sure on what to get part number wise. i have i believe it was a dana 35 axle and the hub is a 5 bolt. if any of that helps. i was also wondering if i need a convertion kit that i see people talking about?
thanks

I bought two sets from these guys:

www.accessconnect.com

They have vehicle specific information on their site. You most likely need the 32720 conversion kit. It is for a 27 tooth spline (pretty sure it's 27). The very early Explorers had fewer teeth on the spline. See the footnotes.

In any case you will need the correct conversion kit. I comes with the new axle nuts etc.

I suggest that when you torque down the axle nut you DO NOT back it off a full 90 degrees as is usually suggested. I found this to be way too loose. Just tighten it down to about 35 ft/lbs, back it off 90 degrees like they say, and then tighten it down until it "feels" right. Not too tight, not too loose. BTW this is direct from Warn. Also, put some high temp gasket silicone between the inner bearing nut and the locknut. This should help to keep it from becomming loose. I had the locknuts come loose on both my Explorers even though I torqued them down to specs.

I did not need a huge socket to remove the original bering nut. Just remove the little keeper pin/key (after removing the "C" clip and spline washer) and back it off using an old screwdriver and a hammer. You will not be reusing that bearing nut.

The only way you would NOT need the conversion kit is if you already have manual hubs on there.
