Knock Sensor

What is it and where can I find it on a 1989 Ford F-150 with a 300 in-line six. The engine is missing when driving and someone told me to check the Knock Sensor.

It detects a "knock" so usally near the middle of the engine twards the bottom where its closest the pistons. (at least that is where it is on the POS $hevy engines i work on at the shop) Might want to look at you plugs and wires first though. Look for flatness of the eletrodes and the gap. Usally a bad plug wire will do what you are talking about too....works at low RPM but once more Volts are applied it fails.....Rotor....check that. Could be lots of thing but if you check the basics first. then get fancy with the sensors! haha....but the worst thing you can do is just assume that it is bad and go off a replace it....you will blow lots of $$$ like that. hopped i helped!

Knock Sensor

The Knock Sensor really doesnt play a big role as far as the engine missing goes ... Like the previous post says , start with the ignition related parts , when was the last time you did a basic tune up ... Plugs , wires etc ?
