2004 5.4 F150 SCrew won't start!! Won't turn over at all.
Was trying to track down a trailer lighting issue. Checking fuses. Removed a relay to get to one fuse. Turns out that relay was for the PCM.
I ASSUME I've triggered the antitheft system but the manual isn't any help.
I do hear a click from the fuse panel when I turn the key to "on."
Am currently searching the forum, but I need this thing going by 8:00am Eastern time. The high school band's trailer is hooked up to it and the show MUST go on.
(Hopefully, this is a simple, "Just wait," or simply "turn this" problem.)
Many, many thanks in advance,
Keith
How about a little more info. Are there any dash lights? What happens when you turn it to on, just the click in the panel and no power? When you turn it to start? Be as specific as possible to exactly what happens when you do this or that. I assume you put the relay back in snuggly.
Well a rapidly flashing light up on the dash by the windshield would indicate an antitheft problem. Start by checking fuse 29 (15 amp) I’ll dig up the wiring diagrams and see if I can find something. Might also try playing with that relay, seems like that’s the obvious place for the problem to be.
Could also try disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for 20-30 minutes...this might reset the computer. Of course, the PCM would have to 'learn' all over again, but at least you'd be able to make the "show"!!!
Good, you did not want to see the list of possible problems I had compiled, the PCM is a frigin maze of wires many of which can kill it. I was up to 6 different fuses that power it.
