Rear Window Rust/Replacement
I have rust developing along the bottom edge of my rear window. I see this occurring in many various year Fords. The little indentations are really problematic. Does anyone know why this happens? I am guessing the window seal hardens. I am going to replace the window and seal soon, so I want to try to solve the problem if possible. I was also going to sand off the rust and use POR in the effected areas.

My 77 F150 has some rust issues in the same area you describe, and I think the issue is not only the old seal, but there is a spot welded seam in both of these rust prone corner areas. I have sand blasted all the rust out of these corner areas and I am going to MIG weld the small holes and spot-welded seams in these areas before seal it with epoxy primer and paint. I think the water is getting into these spot welded seams under the window seal and causing the rust problem. If you don't want to weld up the seams, you could try using some seam sealer over the POR-15 before you topcoat your repair.
