I see on the wires Ford will anti-up to its 54K UAW workers with a yearly pay bonus. Great news And I hope the newly designed F-150 is a runaway success.
Ken, I think this is in response (the UAW bonus) to Ford reinstating their merit raises to the white-collar workers. These "kickers" will be distributed w/o consideration to the profit-taking performance figures. You give to one group you better do it to the other one too or else you get rancor and turbulence. Something Ford obviously doesn't need now. A side note, anyone have any insight as to what the prices will be on the 09' F-150? When GM introduced their 900 line of trucks they insisted they were going to hold the line on the sticker prices. Did they? Yes/no for they reduced the cash incentives instead.
I understand why they are doing it but its completely backwards from how it should be done. Instead of giving the UAW workers bonuses they should be taking away the white collar bonuses. Then put in a bonus plan based on profitability. No profit = no bonus. And give employees financial incentive to help make the company profitable. For instance if you come up with an idea which saves the company you get a bonus bases on that. When you give people a personal state in a company its amazing what they will do.
I can't say anything right now about the 2009 F150 -- I'm contractually obligated to keep quiet. Wish I could say something --- there's some really good stuff coming.

they already have a profit based bonus program called profit sharing. back when things were booming and before my grandfather retied they sometimes would get $3,000 profit sharing bonus. the also have one already form coming up with ideam suggestion b onus, my grandfather turned one in on diamond timpped blands and bits for the machines at ford, he also got like $5 - 8,000 for that. all that on top of his bring home after taxes of $1,500 per week of working 80 hour weeks. also the machines he ran he also had to troubleshot/repair them if he could and if not he had to call over skilled trades.he also had to set up the machine and make sure it was running the parts within specs, if not he would have to change the tooling.
The article I read was about salary merit raises and the fact that Ford was going to meet many goals and that IF that happened, they MIGHT give the hourly their yearly bonus early next year...So nothing extra, just early. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...SS01/712190349
i think they all FORD factory employees deserve what they get, when my grandfather retired he made 21.50 and hour, the factory is not air conditioned, also had to walk throught the huge parking lout in all elements, when in the shop on a hot day it was awful in there, the heat of the outside then the heat the machines put off, then if a machine broke down he would have to try to repair it himself, if he could not then he would call skilled trades in, he would also have to retool the machine if parts were out of specs.
