i give up.

got it in, got it running, new motors got racket on the same damn side.

everyone, yet again, says lifters.

i give up.

New lifters can make noise for up to 100 miles... take a compression test to verify...

I'd also suspect an exhaust leak, they are very common on new motors with old manifolds, if it doesn't tighten up, get some copper gaskets, they will seal anything.

it's got 500 miles on it and still making racket. put marvel in it about a week ago and it's not changing. sometimes it's louder and sometimes quieter but i can't see any common factor to tell why it's one way or the other. i posted a thread asking for the specs for a friend of mine who's helping me out. he thinks the rocker arms may not be tight but i didn't think they were adjustable. *shrug* if anyone has those numbers i'd greatly appreciate it!!
