engine codes on sport trac

getting codes p0171 and p0174 witch are bank1 and2 are lean what would cause this and how to dig deeper in to this

This means either you have a major leak in the intake or your engine can't get enough fuel. Look for a plugged fuel filter, and bad fuel pressure regulator, or a faulty fuel pump.

If it idles like crap but rev's or pulls fine i would think its a major vac leak. If it runs terrible under load I would think fuel system.
