Question About Flareside Bed

I was hoping some of you flareside guys could tell me if a Honda four wheeler will fit in the flareside beds. I recently found a flareside bed for my 86 F150 but i want to make sure the four wheeler will fit. The four wheeler is 47 inches wide and 81 inches long. Thanks.

You can fit a piece of 4*8 plywood in the bed with the tailgate down. The wheelwells have just a hair over 48" between them so the wood lays flat. After that, you can add another 3 inches of width between the side. So if your 4 wheeler is 47" wide at the max...it will just fit.

I forgot to mention...the bed is the standard 7 feet long (or 84"). Looks like you will just fit in...just tie it down so it doesn't flip out when you do your emergency manuvers!

Hi, may I add a question along the same topic? Are the measurements the same for the 1992-1996 Flareside as the 1986? I too want to haul a quad or snowmobile in a Flare. Thanks.

Quick answer...no! But it should be close. I believe they still have the 4 feet between wheel wells, but the sides and tailgate are quite different so you need to really look at one. I believe they have a bit more side to side room and a little less in usable length.

Thanks! I ask because I don't make the trip to pick up the Flare until the end of the month so it's not readily accessible to just run out and measure, so I have been scouring the posts for the info.

Pending on your Quad, yes you can, I can get a Raptor 660R in mine with the tailgate shut.

I have a few more questions on the same topic...

Just how much of the box is fiberglass?

I assume the floor, tailgate and box front are steel, so is the rest fiberglass?

Are the fiberglass parts just bolted on? Also, If the steps are fiberglass, will they support my weight without cracking or are they more for show?

I wouldn't use them as steps if I were you...... They probably would hold your weight, but they are way too expensive if you do break one.

the steps are fiberglass but have reinforced steel under them it will support a normal weight say 250 lbs.
