Wiper Blade Suggestions

I'm wondering what you guys are doing for wiper blades, as I am thinking about picking up a set for my dad's 97 F150 for Christmas. I know in the Super Duty forum a large number of us have upgraded from the factory 20" to 24" blades with no problems (I'm running 24" Bosch Icons on my truck right now and love them).

I looked up my dad's truck in the book and found that it also lists 20" blades. Are you guys sticking with that or are some of you upgrading to 22" or 24"? Any problems with the longer blades not holding to the window strong enough or wearing out the motors prematurely?

What brand of blades are the favorite in here?

Thanks for your help.

I put 24" on my truck, but i think i will go with a 22" on the pass. side. At the bottom of the windsheild its too curved to wipe real good. I just put cheapo wiper baldes on and change them about every month.

I have 22" on it. I change them about every other month (as soon as they start to streak.)

I recently put 22" rain-X wiper blades on my f150, and i really like them. They seem to work pretty darn well in the rain and ice. My opinion, go with rain-x, best $20 for wipers i ever spent

I recently put the Bosch Icon on my '03 F150 4X4 and they are by far the best wipers I have ever bought. They were a little pricey but WELL worth it.

Bobby82490, how much do the 24"s hang off at the bottom? I know the Bosch Icons seem to curve a little better than the wipers with frames.

I can't believe some of you change blades that often. I don't think I've ever changed mine more than once a year. Of course I guess I'm not in sunny Florida either.

They dont hang off the windsheild, they just dont touch the bottom of the windsheild. The bottom of the windsheild is curved too much. But im sure if you got those kind of wipers you would be fine.
On the last pair i got i had to do some minor trimming, the very end of the wiper i have to trim off like 1/4" of it, but normally i dont have to trim them.
Im sure if i didnt buy the cheap blades, i wouldnt have to change them as much. But being in FL the blades are used alot, and sit in the sun alot. With them being so cheap its not a big deal to buy new ones. I could go longer than i do, but i HATE dirty windows.

I use Michelin from Walmart also in Fl. They have been on about 6-7 mo. now and are still working fine. 24" on the driver side, 22" on the other.

Motorcraft hands down. After burning through set after set of Bosch and Anco I went back to Motorcraft and it was like a revelation. Better performance and longer life. I can get a year or two out of Motorcraft blades, the Bosch's would be done in a month or two.

ME TO! I stopped at Auto Zone and put ICONs on the X front and back while it was raining. I could not believe the difference. They are quiet, no hopping, streaking or missed areas. I was so impressed that I bought a set for the ZO6. Don't know how long they will last when compared to the regular wipers and they are almost $20 a pop but what a difference.

pep boys were the first ones selling a wiper blade (i forget the name or manufacturer) that was really areodynamic (low profile), which I spent good money on. I liked that they were low-profile, but within two months the one's blade became unglued from its backing - and Pep Boys refused to replace it as I didn't have a receipt (yet they were the only retailer of the blade at that point).

I still have one of them, but it doesn't have a brand name on it, so I can't figure it out - but, anyway, i refuse to buy any more if a retailer can't stand behind the products they sell.

Just as an FYI, Trico is the supplier for the original factory wiper blades. They have a teflon coated blade that is really good.

I've had good luck with these. Get them at any Checkers/Shucks/Kragen. Advance or Autozone should have these too I think. I just replaced mine - the whole wiper assembly for both sides was $20. I think about half for the refills.
