yep that would be correct. I had a big bolt in mine when I took delivery and the tire only had 22 lbs in it. It was late aroung 10pm when I finally got it.
kick that thing up to 65lbs and you willl get better mileage aswell
yeah for some reason dealerships do not follow the listing and just fill to where they think it is right, i am going to make sure they look over everything when i take delivery of mine, thank god they let me into the service area to take a look at everything. (got lucky with my stang
I posted earlier this month when I took delivery of my 2008 F-350. I asked the salesman twice to have the shop check the tires. He replied it was done, and the pressure light came on for being too high. When I checked the tires, all (6) had a perfect 50 psi. I have not checked the spare as of this writing, but must presume, that tire is also underinflated. My specs on a SD F-350 is 65 in duallies, and 75 psi front.
Thank you to everyone who responded. If this is the worst thing that happens to me on my new truck purchase--I'm a happy camper!
As a pilot, I NEVER get into an aircraft without checking EVERYTHING on my checklist (including tire pressure). Soooooooo I learned a valuable lesson and won't make that mistake again.
I checked mine today, I have the Pirelli Scorpion tires. They were at 40 psi all the way around. I went ahead and bumped them up to 65. The door jamb sticker says 75. That sounds kinda high since right now I'm not towing anything. Should I leave them at 65 or run them up to 75?? I figure I would drive it awhile and moniter the treadwear patterns and ride and see what happens.
Have them fill your tires with Nitrogen instead of compressed air. Nitrogen molecules don't expand and contract the same as air molecules so your tires will maintain a constant pressure year around. When the temps start to dip into the 30's, I lose about 15 to 20 lbs with compressed air.
Nitrogen is good for race tires but not so good for street tires.
Reason? The tire manufacture sets cold pressure expecting it to increase with heat........nitrogen does not. Unless you know what the hot pressure should be and set it to that you are running under inflated. [/font]
I didn't realize there were so many college chemistry professors here. Are there any pilots or aeronautical engineers here also? If so you would be able to tell me why an aircraft has a shorter takeoff roll in the cold of the winter than in the heat of the summer. I agree that you should check your tire pressure on a regular basis but there is no smoke and mirrors involved in someone trying to sell you nitrogen for your tires. Try it and decide for yourself before you believe everything you read.

I’m not a pilot or aeronautical engineer but I believe it has to do with the air density. The cold air is denser and better airflow over the wings creating better lift. Boy hope I didn’t hang myself out on that one. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
It is not so much the dense air creating more lift as it lets the engines make a lot more power. The worst take off condition is hot and high altitude.
