LAST EDITED ON 04-Mar-01 AT 09:44 AM (EST)[p]I believe it was either '84 or '85. Ford started using EEC-IV in 1984, but I'm not sure whether it made it to the 300-6 that year or the next. I hear you about those vacuum lines, it's took me months to get mine running just right.

Carb question
To my knowledge, 85 and 86 were the only years used the 'feedback' carburators on the 300 I6. I had one on my 85 F150 and it worked great for about two months after being rebuilt and then worked worse than a worn out 'normal' carb. I asked the mechanic what possessed Ford to use the useless piece of crap, and he said
" it was Ford's attempt to see how moving parts they could make a computer operate, and they failed."
After having it rebuilt and it going within a few months I fully agreed with him, bought a real carb and it worked great.

Carb question
I've been going over wiring diagrams to find a fault with my truck and all the connections for the carb are shown on the 84 to 86 diagrams. BUT my 84 doesn't have them. My wiring matches the 83 wiring diagram. I would say that the wiring on the carb came in somewhere part way through 84 and probably lasted until sometime in 86.
Carb question
According to my 1984 Shop manuals the feedback & altitude YFA 1-V carbs had electronics, but not the non-feedback carbs. Also, it says that all the trucks under 8500 Ibs. GVW had feedback, and over 8500 had non-feedback. I'm not 100% positive, but I think I'm right.
