I have a 99 Expy, 4.6l with 105K. The battery is 6 months old. The alternator died about 2 months ago and I replaced it myself. In the past week or so, the alternator light on the dash has periodically been lighting. It does not appear to be related to engine rpm. The needle on the dash gage stays steady in the center.

I'm going to take out tonight and monitor the voltage with the scanner.
I have a 2001 Expy. While driving home tonight, my lights got dim and the battery light flickered. The charging gauge showed good voltage the entire time the light flickered. I also noticed that it happen whenever I was climbing a steep hill and the trans shifted into overdrive. After I reached the top of the hill the trans would shift, the lights would brighten and the flickering batt indicator would stop. Help?pdqtimetrialer, please post your fix if you find one and i will do the same.

I would check you battery wires or terminals… You may have a bad positive or negative wire. When was the last time you check or change your battery wires?

I would check you battery wires or terminals… I bet you have a back ground somewhere. That’s the only time I have known to have light flicker. On less you have a short somewhere.
