This weekend I used my 4 wheel drive for the first time. What I noticed was that that when I turned the selector switch to 4 x 4 high the light came on the dash (which is normal) the front wheel was pulling just as normal but what I noticed was is that it would not stay in 4x4. I did notice that when I stepped on the brakes (maybe not everytime) it would disengage from 4x4. The light stayed on but I would have to turn the selector to 4x2 then back to 4x4 and then it would work for a while then disengage. So i would repeat by turning selector switch to 4x2 then to 4x4 and it would again work for a while. I did check to see that both hubs where in the auto position. I know my 01 didnt do this. All I had to do with the 01 was turn the switch to 4x4 high and it would stay in 4x4 until I turned the switch to 4x2. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Wow mine is doing that too! along with all the other problems on this site!!
I got mine back today from the dealer for the 4th time and they said that the wire on the tranfer case was almost off. They put it on called me to come get it, but it was not better. Still went in and out of 4x4 and also makes a bad clunking noise sometimes
I hate this truck!! what a lemon (Read my post- My 2008 6.4 is junk)
