I have a 2000 F-150 XLT. It came stock with 17inch wheels and P26570R17 Goodyear RTS tires. I want something bigger without a lift or messing around with my torsion bars. Any advice?
I have a 97 4x4...I have 305/70-16 they rub on the rear frame but only on a full flex of the suspension. No rub up front even when in tight turn...no alterations were needed. Because I tend to get off the beaten path I will change out to 285/70-16 when these wear a bit more...Hope this helps.
I'm thinking about 331250R16, if I can't do this without lifting my truck, can I just level the front of the truck so its even with the back? Thanks John
Have you seen that size tire on said truck? National Tire's fitment guide show's a 285/75r16 as max for stock 97 up F150. I'm running 315/75r16 (35x12.5)tires on my 99' with a 4" suspension lift and they rub the front bumper valence slightly.
I'm reporting what I've seen here on this site, in both the archives and the boards, as to what people say they've been able run with a stock F150. You'll find that this question has been asked many times :-)
I have a '97 F-150 4x2 with 16' wheels. A guy at work told me that with the 16' wheels you can go to a 285 70 16. With the 17' wheels, the limit is 275 70 17. Not official, but that's the scoop I've gotten, the guy at work said he got the info from the dealer.Hope that helps someone.
I hate to be the negative one, but as you can see in my gallery, I have a 99 f150 with 4" Rancho Suspension lift and run 315/75r16 tires and I still get a little rubbing. If you are running this tire on a stock vehicle and hit a bump while turning you may damage your fender. You may be able to lessen the risk with a reduced backspacing or torsion bar adjustments. For perspective, The 4" Rancho lift kit allows for 33's to accomodate their legal department. So I don't see how a stock vehicle can run 33s much less 35s.
