I was reading up on the EGR disconnect instructions and had a quick question. Matt talks about having to remove the throttle plate on some years, mainly the '04s. I have a 2006 and was wondering if mine has a throttle plate?
I would to say that it helps control the flow of air into the manifold to account for the EGR gases being flowed into the manifold at the same time. I removed mine from my 04 and didn't notice much of a difference but I had deleted the EGR cooler at the same time so it would have been hard to tell. Only thing I noticed is now I get the famous turbo fart/whooshing noise.
I removed the throttle body on my 04 and replaced it with an "05 newer" power elbow. Just the other day I put the throttle body back in with the stock intake elbow and I notice more turbo lag. Mines a cali truck so it threw the CEL removing it.

Yea my 04 also set off a check engine light when I removed the throttle/EGR plate.
