86 ranger start up trouble
I have a 86 ranger with 2.9 and this thing is dependable and a great little all around 4x4 problem is when it is cold you cant just reach in and crank it over and fire her up. you have to give her a little gas then it will start up ok. now it is a fuel injection type and your not supposed to give her a little gas right? once it is warmed up it runs perfect like a clock. if you run in to the store or something and come back out once again you just cant crank it up you have to give her about half throttle then she starts.. any ideas guys

sounds like your IAC ( idle air control ) is acting up. If no cel on that would be my guess.
next time it does not start give it a couple taps then try to start.
could be sticking and need cleaned.
