Does this V code, B code and 3.5" block change lift the front and rear 2" or does it level the front to the rear while lifting the rear 2" and the front about 4".

I'm not sure where you got those numbers from, but it's nowhere near 4 inches.

For guys doing this specific spring swap, based on what I've read, the reported lift falls between 1.5 inches and 1.75 inches, with the rear slightly higher than the front.

For comparison sakes, here my Ex with the spring upgrade sitting next to a 4x4 Ex with stock springs.

Look at the mirrors...

A closer look...

And a look at the wheel well openings...

Bulldog had said it raised the truck about 2". I wasn't sure exactly what that meant. I want about 2-2.5" of lift and didn't know whether or not this was my solution.

The V code, B code upgrade is only one of many spring solutions available for Excursion owners. Some have done U springs, X springs, W springs, modified V's, etc.

The W springs will give an approximate 2.5" lift over the stock PSD 4x4 spring.

Will the W spring give a better ride than a lift of the same height and is it a cheaper way to go?

Better ride than what lift?

Either way, I couldn't say because I don't have the W's and I have never had an aftermarket lift.

Cheaper? You'd have to do the research to ascertain that info.

My 2000 X w/90K did the V code spring swap back at 60K just lately had the same popping sound up front. Springs were tight but the upper & lower ball joints were toast, replaced those with the help from the wealth of info available from this forum-no more popping and it drives much better as well.

I found this excellent step by step pictorial for swapping to the V codes....

http://www.supermotors.net/clubs/for...stry/9/54681-2

Did the guys that have done this, have to drop the blocker beam in order to do the swap? I'm just curious if that is neccessary.

Nope, not me.

After I removed the four bolts holding the front bumper on, and sat the bumper off to the side, it was very easy to remove the old springs and shocks.

Has anyone experenced any driveline vibrations with the v/b code spring conversion? I put a procomp 4inch lift on my 03 EX PSD which consisted of new front springs and an add a leaf and 2 inch lift blocks for the rear. Then the problems started. I would get a loud hum from the rear driveshaft above 55 mph. So I took the rear driveshaft down to the local driveline shop and had them graft on a CV joint. I shimmed up the pinion angle 4 degrees to bring everything in line. Now I have an initial shudder while taking off from a light and the hum comes back at 75 mph. So in an attempt to cure this problem, I replaced the 2" blocks with 1" blocks (which leveled it out nicely) with no effect on the noise what so ever. So I left the 4 degree shims in place and put a brand spankin new driveshaft in. Still have the shudder but the high speed hum is gone. By the way, after 2000 miles my brand new driveshaft began clunking just like the old one. The front has just as many problems as the rear. When going over bumps it makes more noises than the Wonka mobile. Lot of clunking but everything is tight, and no ball joint play. The front end has a vibration that feels like an out of balance wheel that occilates back and forth between the front wheels. Thought it might be the tires so I went from 295/75R16 on stock rims to 315/75R16 on brand new centerline wheels. Problem still there. Putting a lift kit on my EX was the worst thing I could have done to it. It ruined everything that what great about it, good gas milege 18-20 before, 14-16 after, the ride is harsh as hell, and it wanders all over the place. BUT IT LOOKS GOOD!!! LOL.

OK now that I'm done venting about that here's what I would like to do...

1. Put everything back to stock using the V/B springs. I ask the question again, has anyone had any driveline issues? Also the stock spacers with the bump stop on them cant be more than 2 inches high, and do not have a taper. Do the V/B code springs bring it level with the stock spacer in the rear or do I have to use the bigger shim? Does anyone know how many degrees the taller tapered Ford shim rotates the pinion?

2. I'm going to order the landyacht stabilizer for the rear, and install new shocks all the way around. Can anyone recommend good quality shocks other than Bilstiens? From what I understand is the V/B code springs are off an F-250, so do I just order shocks for that model If I do install the springs?

Thanks for the time. Goin to Ford today to price parts.

No driveline vibration issues on my Excursion after the swap.

If I remember correctly, using the bigger 3.5" tapered block not only raises the rear to a slight rake over the front, but it also helps prevent any pinion angle shift with the slight raise.

Rancho shocks are another option for you, if you choose.

If you stick with the Bilsteins when you do the V code/B code upgrade, then the Bilstein part numbers you'll need will be:
Front: BE5-2818 (OEM length for the F250 4x4)
Rear: BE5-6209 (OEM length for the Excursion 4x4)
