My dads 06 F250 has had a oily substance on the inside since he brought it home new. I have washed it many times with different products.
It is worse at night looking at oncoming traffic.
Everything kind of lookes smeard. Real bad when it is winter.
Any thought welcome. THXS
It may be an emulsion exuded from the plastic dashboard. Certain auto preservatives can aggravate this condition. Try a 25% solution of SimpleGreen or Dawn dish soap in tap water to clean and the follow up with a good glass cleaner.
Try using good old blue window solvent in a spray bottle. I have used this as window cleaner for years with good success. It will usually break down any hard to get off film. It's worth a try!
Good luck!
An oily film on the inside of your windshield might be an indicator that you have a very small pinhole leak in your heater core. In addition to the film on the inside does it seem like the windows in the truck fog up easily? If so you may want to check your heater core.
We're talking a miniscule amount of fluid here, so you might not even notice the coolant level going down, if at all.
Now that you guys have mentioned about the heater core it does have sort of a sweet smell and does fog up very easy. Will clean the window again and let you all know. Thxs.
