7700 lb payload

Did this truck get the 10.25" sterling rear end? I'm looking at an 02 that has about 54k on it, anything to look for with the 7700lb payload package?
Thanks
Rich

The most obvious is the 7 lug wheels. I think they are the only truck w/7 lugs. This package gives you the 10.25 rear, so if you want to look under it, that works also.

I Had A 03 F150 With 7700 Pay Load.that Truck Had The 9.75/ 3.73 Rear End Which Is Much Larger Than The 8.8.,look At The Tag On Rear End To See The Specs. Also Look At Lable On Door Jam,will Give You Gvw.

The 7700 package will give you the 10.25/10.5 rear axle.

sterling 10.25 rear axle... for the f250ld and the f 150/7700 package used this axle... that and the 4R100 tranny with some other suspension mods.. and 7 bolt rims to match... it does have the sterli8ng though ......i think the f 250 and 350 Super duty use that axle..

Cool thats what I figured along with having the 4R100 sounds like a good combo. I'm gonna take a look at the truck monday, and I fall looks good, She'll be the new ride. Its an 02 F150 supercab 4x4 7700lbpkg with about 51k on it, and they are asking $14360 for it. Sound about right?

I still love my old 250LD. I think it is a great "medium duty" truck. I would have bought a new 7700 but I needed a crew cab. They are a little harder to find parts for, but in my opinion a great truck and worth the extra challenges.

The one thing I always wondered is why the F-250LD (#7700) only came on the std cab long bed/ex cab short bed chassis. I liked the idea of the 7700 but I wanted an ex-cab long bed so ended up with a 150 and installed add-a-leafs.

The only ex-cab 7700's have the 6.5' bed which I dont like I like the 8' bed. Never understood why ford upped the payload to 7700 but didnt give you a place to put it.

i bet its because they didnt make a frame that long...the super crew and the super cab share the same frame... and then there is the reg cab long bed and i bet it uses the same frame as the super crew and crew cab....then theres the reg cab short bed that is obviously shorter

The SuperDuty uses the Sterling 10.50. Not the same axle as the 10.25 found on pre-SD's and the F150-7700/F250LD.

But they do have a frame that long I have one an ex-cab w/an 8' bed. When Ford made the 7700's they had 3 different chassis 120", 138" and 157". Yes the reg cab 8' bed, ex-cab 6.5' bed and the super crew all share the same chassis. The only reason I can think why they never offered the 7700 on the 157" wheelbase is because the 7700's and the 157" wheelbase trucks are manufactured exclusively at different plants.

Well....no good on the truck. After looking at it, the guy who had it must have ran it alongside a concrete bollard of some sort.....drivers side was way to rough for me. Such a shame as the truck rode pretty nice.
