does any know were to get that leather like the Kingranch seats. the stuff that looks, feels an smells like a baseball glove. I want to cover my stock seat in it
thanks
Its "rich Corinthian Leather." Just kidding of course, since there's no such thing. But Ricardo Montalban managed to sell a lot of Chryslers with that tag line.
Some searching at The Leather Factory" might help with not only the leather but the conditioners used.
Hey man, I work in an upholstery shop, and there are alot of places that sells leather. BUT in my opinion, since I've worked with it and so on, its WAY overrated. There are alot of good vinyls that feel just as good and last twice as long!! Leather don't hold up real well, but maybe in a vehicle that's not driven as a daily driver it might? There is a company called Katzkin and they make all kinds of leather covers, that you can just change your stockers for? We buy from a comnany called the Miami corp. they are in Ohio. There is also a place in Texas called ISS and they sell all kinds of exotic leathers, including osterich, alligator, stingray, goat and others??
What year seats are you wanting to cover in leather? There are a few vinyl alternatives such as Alante, ultra-leather, Rave, and pleather. The Alante and Rave are the best in my opinion, they are heavier and hold up the best.
I was hoping you would see it an respond. What I want to do is cover my stock 1953 F100 seat. in the leather or something that looks an feels like the seats in a f250 king ranch pick up. what ever you feel that would be the best. I would realy like to hear about
thanks
I'll ask dad and see if he'd help me make a "kit" for you to put your own cover on? I have a seat for a pattern, so I could make you a cover to do it yourself? What color are you thinking about? Is your seat BONE stock? When I recovered mine, I took off ALL the springs and welded a metal pan to the tube frame and made the foam bun out of different layers of different densities of foam, so I could get it to sit like I wanted it to. Check out pics in my gallery, bear in mind that I did that 12 years ago, so it's showing a little age now.
I have some new ideas, and can't wait to do them, but have so much other work ahead of it, I can't get time to do it.
