I used to use Firestone, but after they tried to rip me off when I needed the state inspection (said my power steering unit was leaking & a fire hazard), I stopped going to them. Found a local guy who is competent & HONEST, so I'll stick with him.
That was 5 years ago, & I have not added a drop to the power steering unit, & I still have the original.
I've never seen anyone else mention them but I purchased a full set of Goodyear Silentarmor Wranglers.. Can't say enough for these tires.. They wear fantastic.. they ride better than my Wrangler RT's..I was worried they would be a noisy tire because they are alot beafier.. i was wrong.. less noise from the road than the RT's gave me.. When i change lanes on the highway or take tight turns they're not sloppy... at high speeds however they dont grip well.. But they are great in the winter and in the mud... I lost a bit of MPG's ..not alot..like maybe .5-1.. With the kevlar its a heavier tire.. but i dont have to worry about cutting the sidewalls or anything like that..
Not sure if Goodyear still offers it or not.. But i do know its the only SUV/LT tire with a 60,000 mile warranty and free roadside/tow if u ever get stuck due to poor traction/blowout.. I like the piece of mind...check them out
I researched the heck out of this topic because my Michelin Cross Terrains became road noisy and rain slippery at about 50,000mi with lots of tread left and I did not want to fork out ~ 700 bucks for a set.
I will get the Firestone Destination A/Ts for 490 a set installed. Great reviews and ratings, woth the risk for me.
Anyone tried these yet?
If not, I'll post when I've accumulated some miles. Good luck.
