Wheels - does alcoa make wheels for Ford anymore?

Does anyone KNOW (not guess) if some of the 17" aluminum wheels offered on newer (probably 2001 - today) are or were made by ALCOA for Ford?

I am looking for a FORGED aluminum wheel for my truck and am now considering a 17" vs. the 16"s I had been looking for. I would prefer an alcoa wheel, but any forged wheel should be strong enough.

Below are pics of the STYLE of wheels I am looking at - can anyone tell me anything about who made them - or point me to a user or section that might be able to answer my question.

Thanks guys!

When are you gonna make up your mind on wheels? You already have the market cornered. How many sets do you need out in the shop taking up space, lol.
I'll give you a ring right now. We have a set coming off of the 07 if you need some, but,,, they are forged, I see no sign of them being made by Alcoa.

funny that you are the 1st to reply - I just finished writing you a long email on this whole deal.

*edit* after talking with 75f350 for a but he pointed out that the higher offset of these newer wheels will not really work with my intended use (was going to drill and sleeve them for my 74 crew), so I guess my question doesn't matter anymore - although from looking at more and more pictures of the back of the wheels in question - they do look forged.

Yes, Alcoa still makes the forged aluminum wheels for the SD's. Not sure what you are putting them on, but 17" wheels are backspaced for '05-up trucks and do not properly fit pre-'05 trucks. '05 was the first year of the 17" wheel for the SD.

The plan was to put them on my 74 F-250 crew (yes I know the lug pattern is different).

I was/am looking for the 16" Alcoas that came on 92-97 F-250, 350s and E series HD's, but they are hard to find OFF a vehicle. Then, if/when I do find them they are WAAAAY overpriced.
In my searching I have come across SOO many dirt cheap takeoffs off of newer superduties that I decided I might go that route and spend the $125-$150 to get 5 of them re-drilled and sleeved to use on my 74.

So back to the questioning - if the 05's have too high of an offset, how similar is the offset between the 80's/90's and the 98-03 or so?

If the backspacing/offset is similar or the same on the older trucks I might grab a set of 16's off one of those since the wheels are forged. It will be cheaper to buy a set and have them drilled then to find a 90's set with the correct lug pattern already.

Thanks for the info.

dually right?

I forgot to clarify - my truck is non-dually so the wheels in question are single rear wheel applications.

Thanks.

What is the lug pattern on that 74?

Reason I ask they make wheel adaptors to convert 8 lug to 8 lug and space them 1 to 2" out. You could then run the newer wheels and not have to drill or anything...

lug pattern is the old 8x6.5 but I will NOT run spacers. They put too much unwanted leverage on the thing. I would rather skip the 17's and get a set of 16"s than run wheel spacers.

I have a set of 2001 SD wheels on my 1989 Crew Cab. I would prefer the 96-98 Alcoa wheels.

do you mean the 92-97 (98 are vans I guess?) alcoas?

If so why? Is the backspacing/offset different between the 98+ and the older ones?
