Ok for starters Last night I ordered my DP tuner and the DiPricol Optix 3 gauge setup.
Happy but the old wallet took quite a hit! So last night I filled the Diesel tank. (Ouch)
On the way to work this morning I heard a chime from the dash and looked over to see my fuel gauge level bottomed out and the low fuel light was on.
I shut the engine off and back on and it read full again. Then tonight on the way home it did the same thing But as I drove it came back on and then droped again. What gives. I already spent my yearly allowance for truck stuff and do not want any problems. And to make it worse I am leaving on a desert and snow trip round trip of aprox, 1500 miles in a few days.
Any advise?
Steve, I hate to say it, but it sounds like you've got a sending unit going bad. Either that or a short somewhere in the wiring between the sending unit and the gauge on the dash. A sending unit will set you back approx $150 if I recall correctly (for just the parts) and the fuel tank will have to be dropped to change it. If you need to just live with it for now, you'll have to resort to resetting your trip meter at evey fill up and refil at a set number of miles traveled, whatever that may be for your tank size and your average MPG.
