Motor Trend Truck of the Year-Tundra

Is anyone shocked? It was out to late to win the 2007 award.

The competition was the Super Duty Fords and HD GM products.

I'm thinking we are going to hear how Motor Trend has just taken the place of CR as "most useless automotive authority".

M/T's TOTY and COTY aware are useless, as are C&D's 10Best lists and CR's "Recommended" lists.

Go back over M/T's COTY awards and just look at some of the absolute losers and bombs they have crowned. FYI, the award is also useless when a Ford wins.

Hey buddy, why don't you check the DATEs on that website? all from 2001 2002.

You show me a 2008 Tundra with a 2002 V6 engine in, I will buy your gas for the next 3 years

I'm sorry, there is no way that is truck of the year, it is last in the big truck sales, including Ford, Chevy, Dodge and Toyota, I don't count Nissan because they aren't up in the 100,000 units yet. Also the new Tundra has had one big reliability problem after another.

And how exactly a truck, which was introduced as 2007 model, can even compete for 2008 TOTY?

I agree Alchymist. I hold zero credibility for those rag mags.

All the old car mags are irrelevant today. MT was "caught" decades ago giving "Car of the Year" to the manufacturer that purchased the most ads. As much CR bashing there is on FTE, at least they are not the (edit, "ladies of the night") that MT and the other commercial rags are.

I think a "deal" was made, so that GM got the 2007 and Toyota the 2008 truck award. It had something to do with the month of official introduction.
