I have a rebuilt 300 cid with some goodies on it. Id like to put it in my 64 F-100.
In 64 they used front and rear mounts so I need to get a crossmember to install it.
LMC offers a 302 mount and an FE mount for sale. LMC cant tell me annything so I need your help. Id like to use the FE mount as its a full crossmember. The 300 sould have more in commen with the FE than the 302. Im a welder by trade so will do fab if necsisary. Help My 292 sucks way too much gas.
If someones done this tell me every thing.
Not sure, but I'd opt to buy the FE crossmember. Then try to mount it to the engine using the 300 motor mounts. From there, it's just a matter of locating it in the frame in such a way that the transmission is in its same spot, so that linkages and such won't be altered. It's a lot easier to deal with the radiator than the trans. But yes, the FE has more commonality with the 300, except for the bellhousing bolt pattern.
