Hello to all. This is my first post on this forum. First of all let me say I am addicted to this site after one look. I have learned so much from all of your experiences. Thanks so much for the sharing of knowledge. Two weeks ago I became the proud owner of my first psd. It is a 2000 crew cab with 101,000 miles. My question is this, When I am driving on a downhill slope and I let off the throttle and coast I get a sputtering of the engine. It sounds like the injectors are cutting in and out almost like a vehicle running out of fuel. When this occures the rpm's don't surge or drop off and when I touch the throttle, the steady idle kicks back in. I've read on this site how the injectors will cut out totally when coasting and I've noticed that occures sometimes as well. But I haven't seen any refrence to the sputtering. Is this normal? I find it kind of annoying. Other than that I never get any sputtering or hesitation from my engine in any other way. Your input would be great.
What Alpine said. Mine does it too....first time out I almost reached for the key thinking it died...I was gonna start it again until I noticed the RPM's were still going...then I hit the gas and there it was. You get used to it.
Thanks guys. I figured it was nothing serious because there is no other indication of a problem. Yes, it does snap right back when i hit the throttle. I guess it's just one of those things to get used to.
I've got to say,"What a truck!". I'm already gearing up for some of the common mods.

Welcome to the club!! There are so many mods it is hard to figure out where to start. But from everything I have seen here...exhaust and a DP Tuner are a great way to get MOD fever started.
