this thing is starting to givem e headches big time. 150,000 miles. i was getting egr excessive and inssuficent flow was running real rough and was missing on cylinder 4 and 7. switched coil pack and it was still missing. pulled plug wire form coil pack to 7 and it was dead. bought a new pack and installed. 7 is now hitting but rough running is stil there. Took off thorttle body and cleaned egr ports they were completely clogged up all the way. cleaned them out still have egr excessive flow insufficient is gone. truck is still runnning rough and check engine light is flashing. now suddely the heat is not working when we're finally getting a cold front. Now what's up. Would the dpfe bad make this truck run rough under acceleration? also i'm thinking the blend door is bad on the truck which is why the heat is not working. any thoughts on the dpfe making the truck run rough.
If the EGR ports were all coked up, I'd check the EGR valve to see if maybe some of that coked stuff is keeping it from closing all the way.
now that you mention that, that is part of what i had to do as well with mine. I put a vaccum on the egr (mouth power, crude but effiecient) and used a small baby bottle brush to get into the seal area. cleaned out a bunch of crap from there as well.
With the engine idling remove the vacuum hose from the EGR valve, if you have a vacuum present, the regulator probably needs to be replaced. If there is not a vacuum present at idle, then I would suspect EGR valve at fault. Clean or Replace. DPFE will not affect how the engine runs. It's only a sensor.
