Alright all you problem solvers. I started a new post on this one becasue I think everyone got confused on the last one. Here is what going on.
Problem: Rough idle, start and stops with a clunk(Hard in other words) It starts and stop fast like it should but with a clunk sound. Fuel milage is a lot worse then before.
Whats new: I changed the fuel pump to a brand new ford oem, and I decided to do the IDM mod well the IDM fried and I ended up having to get another, so I went with a SD IDM. When I put that in I still had a problem with the connection to the valve cover gaskets. The truck wasnt getting enough of a connection to run, so I stuck my little screw driver in and bent the clip down to put more preasure on the connection and it worked for the most part.
previous ideas: fuel presure was checked and sits at 70-74 psi. no codes read out on the scanner. Another one suggested ICP. I didn't disconnect it, but it was completely dry around it so I didn't think that was it.
Ideas: Maybe injectors have went, or could the IDM have burned the gaskets, or connections? I cant test the injectors with my scanner no buzz test option.
Thanks. I dont know how old they are. Both the ICP and the IPR came with the truck. I have had the truck for about 25,000 miles. The FPR screen was just cleaned when I put the fuel pump in.
Is there away to check each of those senors, not just a visual? I would really like to figure this one out. You dont think an injector went south? I dont know how old those are either.
Can you describe this clunk better? When/all/hot /cold/1 clunk/many clunks (knock)/smoking. Only turning off/cranking?
Possible cracked ring gear/flywheel?
A buzz/cont test would help.
Only one clunk, and its right when it fires up or stops. The truck does smoke some on start up. I think the injectors are worn, but the clunk happens when it is hot or cold.
Yes.
The plate has been known to crack at the crank, And also oblong the holes at the TC from being to loose.
Iam not sold on the clunk and ruff idle being one issue.
Can you hear or feel what the general area is of the clunk.
Turn it off while still in gear. See if it changes.
I have accidenty done that a few times. I will try it tomarrow. If it goes away that means it should be okay, or what should I be trying to notice? I can also take the belt of to and see what that does. Thanks for the help.
I have another idea that came to me today. Can this be something to do with the PCM? Could the IDM that fried have done something to make the PCM bad? I have noticed an unsual amount of movment in my gauges. I have already said that the idle is rough, and it is between 500 and 700 rpm mostly when cold, but the rest of the gauges kinda move randomly. Not a lot but they didnt at all before. It was just something I noticed the last couple of days.
Just trying to find where the clunk comes from.
Have someone turn off the truck while your under the hood and truck.
You can remove the belt. If clunk goes away you would know its in the accessories.
