ok doke . one of the myriad of things i'm looking to fix and /or play with whilst bessie is sitting on her throne in the garage is a somewhat scary issue . here as of late she's been { the 53 } getting a little pressure in the cooling system . got to put about a gallon every 3 days in her cause it will force it out the over flow . i dont know what is causing this just kinda geussing , but i have run a compression test to see if i had a leaky head gasket and nothing showed . she does not have thermostats in her so i dont know if maybe it's due to that . everything seems to be fine she doesnot run hot . while we had it apart i seen no visible problems . i am gonna take the heads back off and was wondering if you guys got any suggestions as to a test to check the valve seats for cracks in case they are not visible short of magna fluxing it and or possible probs i may not be seeing . .i'm also gonna replace the da-- head bolts like i should've already in case they were stretched .now if everything checks out i was entertaining the idea of milling the heads to gain some on the c.r. how far is adviseable on her . stock 8ba. last question i swear !! one of the bonusses i got with the 49 was a set of truck water pumps , extra laying in the back . good place to send 'em and get 'em rebuilt or just go with the new , improved products from the aftermarket ?????? oh yeah shims on the bolts i'm assuming if i mill ? sources or just plain ol washers ?
