just over the top of the rear window on both sides of the cab, I am getting a crack line in the primer. The crack looks like a seam. Before I paint this 66 f100 short bed, I would like to fix what ever is causing the cracks in the paint, any ideas?
Are you talking about the seam that runs across the cab above the rear window and wraps around the upper cab roof corners?
If so, you can clean it out (to metal) and use seam sealer (available at bodyshop supply stores) either before or after primering (preferably after fresh primer) then paint over the seam sealer. Or, weld the seam in with a MIG welder and grind flush (end of problem).

I took it down with a sander and it looked like a metal to metal joint, no seam, no place for sealer, like the bed has for example. The bed has a gap, I used seam sealer but I don't see any place for it on the upper cab corners.
