speedometer gears
i have an 87 f250 with a c6 and the speedometer quit the gear on the end of the speedometer cable is stripped out. there is different teethed gears for it. how would i regear it if i want to run 35s it has the white gear now. thanks Justin

I had the same thing happen to me shortly after I got my truck.the gears come in different sizes and different colors when I called up the ford stealership they wanted to know what color then counted the teeth to make sure it was the right one The gear was pretty cheap I think less than ten bucks

i think the color is so they don't have to take off shoes to count the teeth. LOL. may be wrong about that, but dealer parts guy told me that all i had to do was count the number of teeth on what was running the speedo correctly with the stock tires and then put the oversize tires on and determine the amount you're off and lets say 15 percent off, then you need a gear with 15 percent more teeth, more or less....
