Shifter moving left when in reverse

The other day i was backing up the driveway with my truck and it had a slight load in the back. The tranny began to move left much like it would if u had the parking brake on, but i checked, 3 times, and it was not. I continued up the driveway with the clutch kinda half in because i was worried about "hooking" up too much for fear something would break, i did try popping it out but only to spin the tires and nearly stalling, it worried me because it began to smoke but i finally made it up. I'm guessing my motor mount finally really went but I'm unsure. Could the smell be the liquid in the mount burning as well as the smell of some clutch burning? Thanks very much for any help.

you were probably burning clutch material. you should let the clutch out , don't nurse it if possible.
as for movement of tranny, do you mean the shifter or the tranny? some flexing is normal.
just for peace of mind, i would check tranny and motor mounts.
