the last day or so i have noticed that when i drive my truck it puts out one heck of a smoke screen behind me, like military smoke screen. so i thought it might be a blown head gasket. i have noticed that when i start it up when the motor is cold that it doesn't start smoking right away. but after about a minute it starts smoking. i have also noticed that when i am sitting at a stop light it doesn't smoke that bad but as soon as i give it some gas it starts smoking. it goes on alot of short trips and every now and then it goes on a 20+ mile trip, so it never really gets warmed up. tonight i took it for a little spin out of town, just about 5-10 miles and it quit smoking, i drove back into town and sitting at stop lights it never smoked and the temp gauge never got any higher then the n in normal. it runs the same as it did before i noticed the cloud of smoke.
does this mean i don't have to worry about a head gasket? could this be caused by the fact that it is getting colder and the motor really never gets up to operating temp? today was probably the warmest day in the past week at around 40. that and we have bad fog all day today and tonight so there is alot of moisture in the air, i don't know if that will have anything to do with it.
thanks
