Need help taking out radio out...can pull off the plastic vent that goes over radio...(just am/fm)...on 99XL...can see no screws on nut to take off to take out....looks like it should just pop out.....any help out there?....thanks....

 

They make a tool to remove the radio, sell them at wal mart. Should be 4 holes in face of the radio left and right side, the tool slide in these holes and releases the clips that is holding it in. I have used 4 nails to release the clips. The tool makes it easier. This link will show you what tool looks like.

A metal coat hanger bent into a "U" shape will work as well. That's how I got mine out.

 

the tool is only a couple bucks and you gotta buy the install kit anyway, just buy the tool while you're there.

 

Ha Ha! That is what I did too....worked like a charm.

 

Alot of swearing and pulling until i broke the front of the radio off, then i went "ohhh now i see how it comes out" I won't forget how to take out a ford radio again.
