I guess this could be a general question but I figure stick with those who know, and that be this group. Has anyone gotten their truck a new paint job and replaced the stock bumper with a form fitted one, the kind that when you shut the tailgate it forms a straight line from top to bottom. My truck is an 89 f-150 crew cab long bed and i would like to change from my tan/"flesh" color that i have to a white, black, or silverish color. Has anyone done this and how much was it. Also, if you have a spray in bedliner what type is it, i was looking into herculiner(do it yourself for about 150$ total)
First those flush thingies are called roll pans. And I hate them. They look kinda cool, but totally defeat the purpose of a truck (that being a vehicle designed for "use." A roll pan eliminates your bumper, eliminating it's use. A ton of manufacturer's make them, though. Buy a copy of Sport Truck magazine and check out the ads. They're all over.
Secondly, everyone here could offer his advice on a paint job. Simply stated, you will get out of it what you put into it. An entire truck painted two-tone done, well, with clear-coat will run easily over $2000.
Thirdly, spray in bed liners are kinda cool and I've heard great things about herculiner. Of course, a used bed liner can be found for $50.
Thanxs for the input, i was thinking of getting the roll pans so that i can have a smooth look on my truck, race over 4 wheel look. I dont tow much but if i did i think you can get a two package under the roll pans but it would cost so meh.
If that is your plan, purchase a roll pan and then get a "hidden hitch" package. It hides in front of your license plate, I believe...and no one will know you have a hitch until there is a trailer mysteriously following your truck around.
