Just a hello to all. We just purchased from a private seller a real project. 1975 F-250..This old girl has I believe a lot of life, but needs major TLC. Looking forward as a former mechanic to lending a hand...and also asking for a hand during our project!
Hi and welcome S. Your my kind of people, I`m always taking in old Ford strays and try to keep `em alive. Being a former mechanic you have a head start on this project.
Any questions on your project just post away and remember we always welcome a helping hand.
Be sure to post your intro in the Ny chapter: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum87/ soon...
All best and glad to see you & the 75 on board!
Glad to be here. This project is actually replacing a 92 probe GT that we spent a ton of money on--and then we found the frame had severe rot in a real bad spot. (normally I can weld a 'patch'...but this was in a bad section) Good news on this one is while it's rusty behind the cab on the frame? The steel is very solid--crusty and rusty (it was a 'yard truck' for 2 years) However I feel it will clean up nicely and once repainted? Should give some decent service.
Ford truck frames are fairly thick steel so it`s hard to imagine one ever rusting through enough to be a problem.
Enjoy your fine project and we`ll see you in the forums.
Morris.

And NO I did not take photos of that disaster in the making LOL. It's one of those oddball ideas ya get when you can't sleep at night--and you're wondering "Gee--How am I gonna make this truck run under it's own power and get it into the garage--It's to darn heavy to push...." Let's just say...It's real interesting to actually WATCH the fuel level getting sucked down the soda bottle into the line--and into the carb. Makes me wonder just how crappy our MPG is at this point. Thankfully the mirror is quite high..and the duct tape held the bottle up far enough for gravity to do it's thing.
(in other words? I'm still shocked it actually worked?!?)
