Hello All;
I have some questions for you guys, My 93 F150 Inline 6 is have some troubles.
First: is the air tube, mine broke off and I am left with a little nub sticking out of the exhaust pipe. Any helpful hints?
Second: there is a rather load tick, (kind of like exhaust leak) coming from the engine compartment. It's not to bad when the truck is sitting and rev'd up, but once you put on a load (just easy driving) it ticks like mad.
Third: Is there any way to tell if I have a 10" or 11" clutch is this beast? Specs are 93 F150 4X4 I6 4sd. Manual.
Please let me apologize if I posted in the wrong area, I am new to the board. I also apologize if I've asked to many questions, money is very tight, so I am on my own.
You should be able to buy a new pipe & replace it . The ticking noise under load is likely one of the tubes from the air injection pipe has cracked ( Usually the very back one so you cant see it until you remove the upper intake to replace it ) I think most of the F150's with the 4.9L came with a 10 in clutch . If you are going to replace the clutch etc , go with the 11 in , its a much more durable set up .
My 81 300-6 also had a ticking noise. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same noise, but mine turned out to be related to my pushrods and lifters. It cost about $120 canadian by the time i bought the pushrods, lifters, valve couver + pushrod cover gaskets. Now my engine is as quiet as ever.
