Your gains would be nominal.

In my opinion, the reason for a custom tune (after a boost increase via a pulley change) is to bring the parameters of your fueling back into a safe, wide margin for daily driving, as well as to adjust the fuel and spark timing so as to take advantage of a pulley change.

Without a pulley change, all you can do is change your fuel trim, advance your spark at WOT, and adjust your shift points.

You'll basically be decreasing the trucks margin of safety for daily operation, in order to gain performance without the addition of any boost increase.

My truck is my daily driver AND my work truck. I will haul with it and pull a utility trailer without hesitation. Up to last month, I was running with a 6lb lower and a ported Eaton, with a safe custom dyno tune utilizing a handheld flash tuner.

Before I had my Eaton ported, I ran with a 4lb lower.

I wholeheartedly recommend the flash tuners because I really like them. But I don't like the "canned" tunes that are preloaded on the handhelds, and only believe in custom tunes created by a reliable tuner like Troyer (a SV here at FTE) or another reputable Lightning tuner. So I strongly suggest you contact whichever tuner you choose to create your tunes, then buy the handheld from him.

As for mileage, all I'm concerned with is Smile Per Gallon.
