iam new to the hole 4x4 and overdrive stuff i was driving n 87 150 before, so i want to know what i need to do. How to i turn it on do i need to be in park or N, i know it manual cuz i see the things on the front wheels that u have to turn but thats all i know lol. Winter is starting to hit us over here and i got to drive through 4 side streets to make it to main wanna be prepaired, thnx alot guys
If it it truely manual, and it should with that year. You first need to place the hubs in the lock position. It will tell you on the hub which way to turn the plastic piece. Second place the lever into 4H and then drive off. If you want to be in 4L you have to be in neutral then pull the 4 x 4 lever all the way back and I believe it is a bit to the left after 4H. You shoiuld have a dash light indicator telling you what 4 x 4 you are in. I think you can shift to 4 H on the fly, but I was always to scared to do it. Most people will leave the hubs locked in the winter so you don't have to get out of the truck. Your choice.
