I have a 89 F250 with a 460. It only has under 30,000 miles and I am in the process of replacing all the hoses/belts etc as they are all original. I was changing the upper radiator hose and in the process I broke a thin pink platic line/tubing about the size of an electrical wire. I thought it was an electrical wire until I went to move it and it was brittle and snapped. it broke when i moved it to clean up some anti freeze off the block. It appears to be part of the emissions stuff. I have a Chilton manual but it does not show anything in detail. I am guessing it some kind of vacuum line. thanks
Yes it is a vacumn line, and brittle and very easily broken.
Easiest way to deal with the problem is replace it with the correct size rubber line from any auto parts store. Since you are doing preventative work on it now, you might want to replace all the plastic vacumn lines.
Good Luck Frank
