8 inch rim backspacing

I currently have 305/75-16 MTZ's on factory alcoa rims and the right front rubs on the spring at full right lock. I want to eliminate the rub and be able to move up to 35's but i am not happy with 10 inch rims. Will 305's on 8" rims rub? Has anyone tried 8" rims with less backspacing? Thanks for the help. scot

2001 crewcab 4x4 F250 diesel.

Don't create another problem trying to fix the one you already have. If the tires are rubbing at full lock you can simpley make adjustments to the stop bump. If you go to a rim with different offset to move the tire outward, you will then have rubbing issues with the outside of the tire against the lower corner of the bumper and/or the inner fender liner behind the tire unless you have a good size lift.

My thinking is 305's are the same width as 315's and alot of people run 315s on 10 inch rims. This moves the center of the tire out 1.5 inches from stock( 7" rim) so if I went with one inch less backspacing on an 8 inch rim the center of the tire would be the same as with a 10 inch rim. I prefer the profile the 8" rim gives over the 10" but I don't want the spring rub I'm getting with 305's on a stock rim.

I currently run 315s on stock rims with a lift and had to 1)add some meat to the bump stops to keep from rubbing the leaf springs 2)trim lower corner of front bumper 3) pull back the plastic inner fender liner. I know I have taller tires but you to will probably have to do a little modifying with wider wheels and 305s with no lift.
