Hello to eveyone that helps in the forums. I have a 2001 excursion with 95,000 miles on it ,and recently I change my oil to royal purple 15w40 sync its been ok, but everytime I need to change the oil it gets harder to find it in my area . my question is, can I go back to regular oil ?can I use 10w40 sync ?or what kind of oil you recomend . I live on south florida. thank you again for your support
basically if you are changing the kind of oil you are using, i would reccomend flushing the oil system out, or do an oil change, and just use the cheapest oil you can find, along with a cheap filter, run it for a few miles, and change it again to what you are wanting to switch to, so it will clean all of the old oil out
If you want to keep using the royal purple and can't find it, order it online. I know http://www.summitracing.com (7.25/qt) has it and I believe http://www.rpmoil.com (6.99/qt or 28/gal) And I'm sure there are more places that carry it.
Use the synthetic if you want to, the cheap stuff is ok, but rp is good stuff. And I assume it gives you peace of mind(it does for me) so stick with it.

If you want to switch just drain and refill with the oil of your choice.

You can have 5 gallons of it shipped to your house for $99 at www.longrider.com. Shipping is extra but it's still a lot cheaper than buying it by the quart.
