Yes, I ended up having my dad manufacture a custom plate which mounts on the manifold. It is hard to describe, but tomorrow after work, I will see if I can get a digital camera and take a few pictures for you.
basically, since the butterfly on the carb opens the opposite way, the carb has to push the kickdown plate towards the passenger side, then turning this motion into a downward position (although you probibly already had that one figured out). I'm sorry, but I really don't know how to explain it in words. Again, since it is 11:50pm, I will see if I can get pictures posted sometime after 6:00-7:00pm CST tomorrow.

Ok, Here are some quick pics. Please excuse the poor quality. If this looks like something you are willing to impliment, and would like dimentions, that would be no problem. If you would like more info on how it works, let me know.

When the throttle opens up enough, it pushes against
the plate, turning the rod, and in turn opening the
kickdown valve on the tranny.

Thanks for the pictures and info. I am also experimenting with cable system, but I'M going to try your system too. I have to wait for headers to arrive before finishing install, but I'll try to post something to let you know how it all works out. Thanks again, very ingenius.
