18" or 20" wheels

Ok i am lucky enough to order the truck i want and i have two choices for wheels. The truck i am going to order will be an F250 4x4 Lariet and i really like the look of the 20s but i am afraid of the tire price for these wheels but i like the price for the 18s, should i just go for the 20s or go for the more economical 18s? Later i plan to buy a few set of rims so i can have some for serious mudding, strictly snow and ice, and some 19.5" wheels for some towing tires. But to start i want to start on a good foot since these rims and tires will be my daily driver rims and the tires will wear out alot faster than the others.

18's tend to offer a little better ride than 20's due to the increased sidewall height. Plus there is a wider selection of tires (brands and sizes) available at slightly cheaper prices.

Noticed in your sig that you are ordering a '09??? That will be some wait.

You want to buy me a set of rims while your at it lol jk.I think I would go with the 20s because they look better and it sounds like your going to buy rims for all different purposes except for daily driving and the 20s definitly look better IMHO.

well the extra rims and tires will be coming way later because just a set of Rickson wheels and tires is going to set me back somewhere around $3K - $4K and really after looking at the price for BFG tires for 20s (around $1k just for tires) that is the reason i am drawn away from them and i really like the Goodyear Wrangler A/T SA pros.

What tires sizes can i use on a stock height truck with the 20s (and i might add a leveling kit to start but not sure yet)

yeah i put 09 because i am not certain when i will be able to place the order but more than likely it will be in mid 08 or around truck month here in texas which is towards the end of the year and i can almost steal the truck

Basically any tire size up to 35X12.50R20 or 18 (or equivalent) will fit on a stock height truck when using stock wheels.

BFG's in 20's are expensive and they aren't the greatest tire either. If you look on tire rack, the Goodyears for the 20's are pretty inexpensive, less than $200/tire. I bought my truck with 18's because I needed the snowplow package and I was unable to order that package with the 20's, but I bought a set of 20's off the bay from an 06 Harley truck. The difference in ride is hardly noticeable, and the 20's look alot better!

i have been told by several owners the diff between the 265/20 and 270/18 at the same tire pressure is not that much in terms of ride quality. i think the truck looks proportional with the 20's. i ordered a kr with the 20's.

I test drove both a couple times and didnt notice a difference. I agree, the 20's look more proportional.

are the 20" Goodyear AT/S as good a quality as the Goodyear AT Silent Armor, dang i wish goodyear would make the silent armors in 20s instead of 18 being the largest size

I had the AT/S's as factory tires on my truck. All I can say is they were not that much better in the snow or rain then the Conti's that everyone complains about now. I am not that hard on my truck and went thru 2 sets in less than 60K with most of those as highway miles.

i would say 20's, but to me the new ones dont look near as good as the 06-07 20's. they actually look way small. maybe its just me tho. id say go with the cheap wheels, and find some 06-07 wheels with hardly any miles and go with those. thats what id like to do!
