95 e4od trouble

I've got a 95' f-150 4x4 w/ 4.9l. The e4od is stuck in 2nd gear. All shift linkage is fine trans in clean w/ no visable problems with pan & valve body off. Truck still has park but when you start the truck it's in gear. Replaced neutural safty switch on side of trans. did not fix the problem. Put truck in rev. no rev lights & still in forward gear. Help with a direction. Thanks

The 95 was the good one and has to have something stuck in a bore or something
not letting the band release. Was there anything in the bottom of the pan chunks
or a lot of shavings? When was the last time the fluid was changed or partial swap?
Some of these trans will stay stuck in one gear if the computer gives it no commands
so check for corrosion on all connectors leading to it!!

you should have someone shift the truck with you underneath. Check to make sure that you are moving the selector shaft. If that is moving then drop the pan and make sure that the plunger is moving when the selector shaft is moving.

The fact that you are not getting reverse lights would tend to indicate that the selector shaft may not be moving. This would also coincide with the truck not wanting to start as it will not see that it is in park or neutral
