So I have an infamous 1316 code, had it for a while. The 1316 code is set off by cylinder 4 and 6 saying there is a short. I have checked and replaced uvc, i have followed injector wire from the uvc to the 42 pin connector and from that connector to the idm and have found no open wire. I have replaced the idm. I am done with this light
The light comes on sometimes and then goes off, sometimes at idle sometimes not. The only time it is on for more than 5sec is if it has been running less than 15 min and truck shifts to OD. If i am in OD and going between 40 and 45mph and rpm is less than 1200 the light will come on and stay on for up to 40 sec and then goes off and comes back on. If i run for 15 min and shut down and then start the truck when its hot I will never get a light. When the light is on there is no smoke, no rough running nothing, if i put a piece of tape over the light you will never know when the light is on. It started when a shop washed my engine bay to find an oil leak I went in with an oil leak and came out with a light that flashes like a blinker. I am out of ideas.
only thing i can think of is..go to napa or the like..get some electrical cleaner and grease made for wire plugs and sensors..pull all the plugs..spray the cleaner in the plugs..blow dry if you can..when dry..put some of the grease in the plug and put it back together...maybe a drop of water is in there some place..check close to each plug for a bare spot..it doesnt take much of a hole to mess things up...
I bet they used a presure washer on your engine. Well I am sure you have read here many time to use simple green and water hose to wash the engine. I would also say check all connections and grease them as Ron said.
I don't know which is worse, elect. problem or a leak.
i use that grease every time i pull a plug...i also pull plugs just to put grease in them..i power wash my motor twice a year and have naver had a problem..steam cleaning is where you run into problems....steam gets into spots a lot easer then water and cause just as much problems..
so should i pull the plugs at the uvc, the power pack and idm and clean and dry and then use what kinda grease? Also how much of this grease should i use. Oh and I would rather have a leak in 6 months of this forum i think i could handle a leak now electrical troubles is way worse
